Johan Liedgren - born 1964, left his position as Director at Microsoft after seven years managing new business development and contract-negotiations to focus on independent investing and filmmaking. Originally from Sweden, Johan began his Microsoft career in Scandinavia, to continue at Microsoft’s European Headquarter in Paris, France. Before Microsoft, he spent six years with different advertising agencies and as a management consultant. Johan studied philosophy and sociology at the University of Stockholm and served at the Swedish School of Navy Intelligence.
Johan is founder of an independent entertainment and consulting company and has over the last decade been an advisor/investor in several technology and media companies. He has served on the board of directors of Loudeye Technologies (NASDAQ: LOUD), Syngence, North West Film Forum and Goodway Technology. Other non-US board engagements included Europe’s Netsolutions / FRAMFAB (Sweden: FTID) and Cicero, a privately held European holding company for management-consultants.
On the creative side, Johan has worked with branded entertainment, program development, scripts and narrative structures for companies such as MTV, HBO, Ford, Nike, XBox, Budweiser, Coke, Showtime Japan, BBC, Yahoo, Warner Brothers, BMW, BBC and others. He has also been a frequent speaker on the topic of branded entertainment, narrative structures for brands as well as a contributor to books and essays on related topics. Johan has been recognized with awards and recognitions from Sundance Film Festival, Slamdance, Sedona Film Festival, Yahoo! Film festival, AdCritic, The Museum of Television and Film, to mention some.
Johan most recently worked as Creative Director at Digital Kitchen - consulting, writing and directing for for large branded entertainment clients. In addition, he has been involved with several film, commercial and television-projects both in the US and in Europe. In 2006 he was the lead-writer on Swedish Television's 13 episode political drama series "The Commission" akin to West Wing. He has been executive producing theatre in Los Angeles, executive producing a new series with Viacom / MTV, as well as writing and producing several independent film-projects in the US and his own television project represented by the talent agency Endeavor / William Morris.
Johan lives with his two sons in Seattle, WA.
